Nature’s calling
Schonau
10 years ago, I was commissioned to redesign the entrance area and living room of Michelle’s main house. After that, we took care of renovating the curtains and furniture of her holiday home, and finally, she asked me for a layout for her office in Schonau. Michele is a great photographer, and she wanted her affinity for South Africa to be reflected in the interior of her workplace.
In the open office, I have recreated a lodge look with unique furniture and large curtains by Osborne and Little. Instead of a table and chairs, we have opted for an upholstered corner bench and stunning cushions by my talented designer friend Melinda from The Vale London. As for the wonderful kitchen table, I have designed a specially shaped tabletop.
We have chosen a contrasting palette of deep hues and wildly bold patterns which have brought a dramatic yet atmospheric vibe into these cozy office spaces. The open kitchen, snack, and lounge area have become one with the surrounding environment, acting as a precious frame of this splendid bucolic landscape.
